Description

Digital Printing Water-Based Clear Coat – Gloss & UV Stable

This gloss UV stable, water-based clear coat system is designed specifically for digital printing applications. It uses self-cross linking chemistry to improve chemical resistance, making it ideal for enhancing the durability of digitally printed substrates.

Compatibility with Inks and Substrates

This water-based clear coat offers exceptional compatibility with most UV-cured and solvent-based inks, ensuring superior adhesion to a variety of media. It adheres particularly well to PVC and other rigid substrates commonly used in digital printing.

Low Blush and Excellent Flow for Digital Prints

With minimal blush or color shift after application, this clear coat maintains the quality of printed images. Its smooth flow and leveling properties ensure an even application on digital prints. A second coat can be applied once the first coat has dried, further enhancing the protective finish.

Ideal for Self-Adhesive Vinyl and Rigid Digital Prints

Perfectly suited for digitally printed self-adhesive vinyl, flexible substrates, and certain rigid materials, this water-based clear coat offers additional durability, chemical resistance, and scuff protection. For optimal results, apply a film thickness of approximately 20 microns, covering roughly 20 square meters per liter.

Key Features:

  • Superior adhesion to a wide range of printed media
  • Excellent chemical resistance for long-lasting protection
  • Good scratch and slip resistance for high-traffic digital prints

Application Methods for Digital Printing Clear Coat

This water-based clear coat can be applied using several methods, depending on your digital printing setup:

  1. By Hand with a Paint Pad
    • Wipe excess coating into the tray before each stroke.
    • Apply on a level surface with steady, even strokes for consistent coverage.
  2. Airless Spray Gun or Airbrush
    • Control the layer thickness for either a glossy or satin finish.
    • Thinner layers result in a satin finish, while thicker layers enhance gloss.
    • Dilute with 10% water if needed for smoother application and performance.
  3. Automated Mayer Rod/Bar Machine
    • Adjust settings according to the machine’s guidelines to ensure an even coat.
    • Test for proper drying and gloss levels before proceeding with full applications.

Drying and Curing Times

The drying and curing process varies slightly based on the method of application:

  1. By Hand
    • Allow the liquid to dry slowly on a flat surface to release any bubbles and achieve an even finish. Initial handling is possible after 1-2 hours, but full curing takes 24 to 48 hours.
  2. Airless Spray Gun or Airbrush
    • Thin layers dry faster, with handling possible in 1-2 hours. Complete curing still requires 24 to 48 hours.
  3. Automated Mayer Rod/Bar Machine
    • Follow machine guidelines to control drying energy and speed. Full curing continues over 48 hours for maximum durability.
